New Family!!

What started with Super K's aloe plant from home became two aloes in the room after I picked up a free aloe from the chapel. Then, for some reason, while Super K's aloe still remains single, my aloe plant has already made 7 babies. Or, maybe Super K's is the dad and mine is the mom. We're not fully aware of the drama that happens by the window seal.
Yesterday, we've invited in another member (members ?) to our family of room A308. Zinnia flower seeds. The other day, Sara, a staff assistant for the dance department, gave me a small growing kit for Zinnia. I've always had commitment issues, which I've been trying to work on. This is another attempt for myself to try and commit to something by growing some plants.
I'm supposed to transplant the Zinnia to a larger space once it has reached 3 inches. If you would like, you can take them Gail. (if they survive)

Recognition Ceremony

Today, the intercultural department had a recognition ceremony for the seniors who were involved with the department. As part of the intercultural department, I was also invited to join, and we had an amazing time. When we got to the part where the seniors gave gifts to those who they are most thankful of, I was holding back tears. It was very touching.
Below is what I had on for the ceremony. The shirt was a thank you gift from one of the seniors that I performed with for her senior thesis dance piece. I promise it looks a lot better in real life, but , for some reason, I look a little pregnant in this picture... I also look a bit tired, too. Anyways, the other picture is my first champagne I was given at the ceremony. It's underage-size!! No. I'm just kidding. It's bubbles, which is not disappointing at all because I love bubbles. I just thought this was the fanciest looking bubbles I've ever seen before. Super K has decided that she is going to have these for her wedding. FYI, it doesn't smell like champagne...lol

Every time I hear the seniors sharing about their experiences here, I feel more and more excited about the years ahead of me here, and all the adventures that are awaiting...lol

long time, no post...

Hello, everyone. How's life going for y'all?

Yesterday was the last day of Spring Dance Concert, and I am truly amazed to find myself being back in my room starting on my homework before midnight. It is nice when you get to say more than "Good Morning" and "Good Night" to your roommate. lol

So, to celebrate the amazing work of the dance department and everyone who supported us, below are some pics for you! lol

The red arrows are mostly floor burns, bruises, splits, blisters, and anything else that you can possibly get... One of the pieces I was in required some hard-core falling in the audience, which is carpeted, and on stage. One girl got a bruise on her inner leg that was about the size of a foot ball... You usually don't feel any pain during the performances due to the adrenaline, but you better be prepared when you shower with all those floor burns. lol
I'm working on getting some dancing pictures soon, but that's gonna be for another post later on.

Silent Auction Flyer

Hello. How is everyone? The weather here in Roanoke has been strange. The temperature and the weather is so unstable, and I end up looking like an Eskimo every day...
By the way, I wanted to apologize for those who tried to enlarge the pink flyer in the last post. I did that post on a mac computer, and, for some reason, it didn't work. So, I'm posting the information on the flyer now. Again, Silent Auction is an event the Hollins Repertory Dance Company (a student-run dance organization) hosts during the major dance performances. All the donations will be auctioned, and the money we raise will all go towards the expense to put together the performances and trips we take as an organization. Almost anything new or gently used can be auctioned. Below are some examples:

  • Clothes/Shoes/bags
  • Antique
  • Knickknacks
  • Jewelry
  • Paintings/Pictures (framed or not framed)
  • Kitchenware
  • Lamps/Electronics
  • Books
  • Gift Certificate
--------We are always open to suggestions.----------

If someone is interested in making a donation from your work place or companies, you could also mail us a stack of your business cards, and we can put it by the product you donated for advertisement. As I mentioned earlier, Hollins Repertory Dance Company is a student-run dance organization, and any amount, or any kind, of donations or support will be greatly appreciated. We are accepting donations till the 1st day of Silent Auction, April 24th.

For making donations, questions, or suggestions, please e-mail me at ngoodson@hollins.edu or nevagivanaomi@gmail.com. I also have a facebook group for the Silent Auction, so you can also contact us by writing on the group wall or leaving a message. We will get back to you ASAP!!

Thank you!!!!

Would you support us??

Hello, dear friends!! It has been a while since my last post, but I hope everyone is doing well.
Today, I am posting this as a member and the fundraising chair of Hollins Repertory Dance Company aka HRDC.  HRDC and the dance department will be having a Spring Dance Concert on April 24th, 25th, and 26th. During those three days, HRDC will also have a Silent Auction in the Theater. This is one of the traditional fundraisers we have during every dance concerts. Most of the auctioned products are donations from friends, faculties, family, and local stores/firms. We were wondering if any of you will be interested in supporting our concert by making a donation. Below is the flyer. Please click to enlarge.
To contact me about donations, questions, or any other comments, please e-mail me at ngoodson@hollins.edu. If you are interested in donating, but not sure how to get it to Hollins, please let me know, and we can figure something out together!!

Thank you!
