Spirit Week

This week is "Spirit week!!" We have daily dressing tasks to show our school spirit during this week!! Today's task was to dress the school color, which are green & gold(yellow). So, the pics are what Kathryn & I came up with. And the poses? Don't ask. I feel like peter pan...
※ FYI, I didn't paint my stomach. I have a gold leotard on!! lol

just a little clumzy moment...

OK. Guess what just happened.

I went to the laundry room to do my laundry (of course). I poured out a cup of Purex 100 OZ liquid laundry detergent, put my clothes in the machine, paid $1.25, pushed the start button, and grabbed my stuff to go back to my room. I've been waiting to do my laundry for about a week, and I was so excited that I got started on it, till I heard a splash. I looked down and there it was. A big blue pond of laundry detergent. Apparently, I forgot to close the lid.

Surprise....

After I cleaned up, I sat by the window and saw the "magnetic sculpture" that Gail & TJ sent me for my birthday, so I made a "magnetic metal aloe." Pretty good, isn't it? lol

Jeff the snake Jr. !! lol

Yesterday, I found a tiny snake taking a nap by the cafeteria. I got so excited, I sat by him for about 30 minutes talking to him. I wasn't brave enough like Gail to actually touch him, but he made my day!!! :-)

Wouldn't it be ironic if Jeff was the owner of that snake skin I found the other day?!?! lol

Kitty!

One of the campus cats.
Isn't she pretty?? I can't remember her name at the moment, but she is a very sweet kitty :-)

She came to show us a bird she caught & killed the other day... lol

Snake skin!!!

I found a snake skin the other day!! It was about the length of my arm. I found it on the way to my class, and, when I got there, my teacher said, "What did you find today??" Many people know me as a strange girl who picks up things (many calls it "trash"...) like leaves, cicada shells, and other random things that catches my attention.

Oh, well... lol

Yes! We're getting our egumacation!!!!!

I've been told "You're special... :-)" quite a bit, and you might think so, too. However, that doesn't mean I don't get nervous about new things. "Will I get along with people?" "Will I get used to the new environment?" Yes, just like others, those thoughts crossed my mind when I came to Hollins.
Now I don't even think about that. I've already meet so many cool, awesome, and "special" people and I feel totally comfortable being who I am.

The pics above are those fun times when I had my camera on hand. It's amazing to have things to laugh and smile about everyday!!!!!

Workstudy!

Hello! How's everybody's week been?

For those who don't know, I have workstudy 17 hours a week in the Chapel and the International Center. The work I do are very simple and I usually enjoy doing anything, so, for me personally, it has been pretty fun ;-)

The left Pic is me making a poster for a knitting get-together, and the right is me getting distracted. I saw some rock-climing rocks on the wall, so I though I'd give it a try. lol

My room!!

For privacy reasons, I have pics of only my side of the room :-)

I was never in to decorating my room at home in Japan, but somehow my dormroom ended up very colorful. lol

Bell Tower

Hello!!
I believe I mentioned about the Chapel we have on Hollins' campus. The other day, I got to go up to the bell tower! I have never seen Chapel bells except in movies or TV shows, and, man, I was excited!!!
The bell on the left pic is big enough for me to get in it and we have two of these. The ones in the pic on the right are about half to third of the big bells' size. These are old bells which are not working, yet. There are 2 new small temporary bells that rings every hour, and we are hoping to get the old ones fixed ASAP.
It already sounds awesome now, and I can't wait to hear all of those old bells ring!!!!

:-)

This morning, on the way to Rehearsal, I found some cool bumper stickers. Also, I didn't realize it till later, but the license plate also says, "High Praise", right?lol

DEEP Aerobics

Hello!!
Yesterday, the 14th, our guest artist, Michele(the guy in the middle front of the pic with the blue eye mask on!! lol), taught us a class called "DEEP Aerobics". It's Death Electronic Emo Protest Aerobics. I really don't know how to explain what the class is like, but one thing I know is there is nothing else like it. If I ever have a chance to meet any of you in person, I might try to explain it to you. One things you need to participate in this class is a costume. You can ware whatever you want. I just put the most random things I could think of and I looked like a Japanese hippy jazz dancer. I don't think there is such thing, but that's probably the closest it's going to get lol.
All around I had an awesome time, and today I'm sore... Though some parts of the class was strange, I'm glad I took the class.

I'm 19!!

It's September 12th, and it's MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!
I woke up and found beautiful flowers with a card outside my door (thank you Kathryn and my hall!). I received so many happy messages, cards, hugs, and kisses. I also got to eat some cake!! My hall mates threw a surprise party for me and Nakia whose birthday is also today!! What made it even better was the Nomi-blue sky with no clouds. :-)
I turned 19 today, and this is the last year I'll truly be a teenager. This is so strange. ...Well, I guess I'm always free to feel like I'm one no matter what...lol
I thank God for giving me 19 years and how he has blessed me though those years. And, of course, my parents. Thank you for all the love, comfort, and encouragements you have given me and taught me.
Those who sent me messages, cards, gifts, or even just thought of me today, THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!! I will not be here without any of you guys!!!!!

XOXOXOXO, Naomi

Roommate!!

Hello! How's everything??
Today, I'm going to introduce my lovely roommate, Kathryn (AKA, "Super K" lol). She is from Connecticut. She loves books and enjoys writing, and looking into majoring in creative writing. She is such a great roommate, and I love her sooooo much!!!! First she seemed like a quiet, nice person, but the more I spend time with her, I'm starting to notice that her "wild side" has started to peek its head out...(Gail, you might be right about her "wild side" lol) And, believe it or not, I mean that in an awesome way!! LOL ;-)
In the picture, we are eating the cookies her mother sent us. They are SOOOOOO good!!!

Places at Hollins...

Hello!

Today, I'm going to introduce two of my favorite buildings on campus.

Left is the library. It's quite new and as much as the outside looks nice, it gets better inside. If I'm not in class, I'm in my room, outside, or here. You can rent out movies on the 1st floor and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor are full with tons of books, you can ever imagine!! They have many spaces for reading and relaxing, too. As much as I love the atmosphere there, I have to admit that I'm in love with the but-sucking couches, too!! lol

To the right is the Chapel from the front. They no longer have any services there, but I go in there often just to find a quiet, peaceful place.

Another side of Superman?!?!

So, I didn't know this, but Superman is also an ice cream!!! lol

♡♡♡Deserts♡♡♡

Hello! If you know me, I'm sure you have noticed my love for food. This might seem a little random, but today's story is going to be "Food in America and Naomi! No. 1" !!

Left is "Yogurt covered pretzels" and "Sour gummy worms"! When you eat them, taking turns, the sweet and sour balances each other out and I can eat them forever! I also like doing this with chocolate covered raisins instead of the pretzels. Since I tend to make myself sick from eating too much of these "sweet & sour combination" food, I try to take a little bit out of the bag and put the rest up. lol

Right is, as you can see, "strawberries with chocolate fondue". Chocolate makes everything better...♡

Hollins University

It has been roughly 2weeks since I've been at Hollins University. It's surrounded by nature and this place is filled with women ready to work for their dreams.
The 1st 2 pics are from a ceremony called, "the first step" here. There is an area called "the front quad", and only seniors are allowed to walk there. On the opening day of school, all seniors dresses in their decorated graduation gown and line up around the grass area of "front quad". They count to three and take their first step together. Then they open up all the bottle of champagne and party all night long.
The bottom pics are from white water rafting and the surprise birthday party we did for one of the girls on our hall. During the rafting trip, there was this place called "jump rock" and those who wanted to could jump off a 15ft.-high rock into the river. Suzan and I ran off it together. I was planning falling into the water from my feet, but, instead, I fell from my but. It took a couple days till the pain on my but and lower-back went away... lol
Everyone on my hall seems nice & a lot of fun!! I don't think there is anything to worry about my dorm life :)
Well, that's it for today. I have a lot of work to do and I'm still trying to get used to a lot of things, but I'm enjoying my busy and full load schedule everyday!
